So, why Corpus?
It’s central. It’s a short walk to the shops, the clubs, the theatres, the market, most of the university departments; everywhere you could ever want to go as a student! I wake up at 8.50 and still make it to 9am lectures. There is always someone to talk to, go out with, rant about your supervision work to and generally lean on. The porters, housekeeping, catering and bar staff will get to know you, and you them, which gives the place a real family feel. The Corpus Challenge (when we beat Oxford at Sports, see alternative prospectus) really builds a sense of team spirit within the whole college. Corpus’ very own theatre, the Corpus Playroom, run in part by the Corpus students, allows any and every Corpus student to get involved with theatre at any level. Live music events in our new underground bar allow people to show off their musical talents. And then there’s Christmas karaoke which allows you to show your lack of musical talent! Our intimate slacks (discos) bring the college together for nights of silly costumes and cheesy songs.
Bar ‘sports’ are a great way to relax after a long day; free pool, table football and of course good old Nintendo games on the world’s most ridiculously oversized TV! The JCR (Junior Combination Room, common room/TV room) is a great place to socialise whilst watching Sky TV; football, films, Jeremy Kyle...
All Corpus students are guaranteed accommodation for all the years of their undergraduate degree, in term time. All first year undergraduate accommodation is in or right next to the main college site. Corpus has a whole spectrum of rooms, ranging from 14th century rooms filled with character to modern en-suites filled with modernisms, and a whole range in between.
